You post it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Want to give a family update? Write a blog. Looking to give friends a play-by-play of your weekend? Post your photos to Snapchat. But is digital and social media as effective when communicating with your representatives?

Absolutely! Social media is great for generating awareness with other constituents when it comes to issues but is your Congress member really paying attention to your Facebook comment? They may be, but odds are they aren’t looking too closely. Outside of the harassing comments, their staff is most likely not taking note of what you’re saying online.
